The Seahawks won after scoring on the last drive of the first half and the first drive of the last half. The defense looked, I thought, terrible in the first half, but they looked much better in the second... More than that though, as bad as they looked, they still were fairly effective and gave up only three points in this game, with the other seven coming on the pick 6 in the first quarter. Here are some fun facts:
- The Seahawks were 11 - 19 on 3rd down. Nice. The Defense held the Chiefs to 1 - 10. Nicer. Admittedly, Matt Cassel was injured on the third play of the game, so it was perhaps not the best competition, but still.
- The Hawks run game looked good, but definitely not great. Devin Moore looked lost. Overall we averaged 3.35 yards per carry, with Julius and J-Force both running for 3.8 ypc.
- Our QBs were sacked twice, while the defense racked up four sacks for the third consecutive game. Nick Reed got one of them, Derek Walker another and nearly a second after Reed flushed Gutierrez out of the pocket into Walker's waiting rage.
- Hasselbeck's line: 19 for 25 (76%) for 216 yards, 2 TDs and an interception for a 111.7 rating. Seneca had a 94.5 rating and Teel was barely in the game.
- I've said many times that the best indicator of the Seahawks win-loss record appears to be Hasselbeck throwing for at least 65% completion percentage. This preseason: 71%.
- Our time of possession was 36:39, which is great to see considering we were the worst in the league, by a LOT, in 2008.
