But not what you think... Edge is still a non-Hawk.

The Seahawks have waived recently injured veteran Guard Grey Ruegamer and brought in G Brian De La Puente. De La Puente went undrafted in 2008 and was signed by San Francisco as a free agent last year. He was released with final cuts last August, before being picked up by the Chiefs. After 7 weeks, he was cut and placed on their practice squad for the remainder of last year. He was cut last week when the Chiefs acquired two linemen from the Dolphins.

De La Puente is unlikely to stick, but he was no slacker in college. He played three years for Cal and was a starting guard on their 2007 line that allowed a Pac-10 low 11 sacks. That was the same line that Justin Forsett put up 1,500 yards behind. He was given honorable mention All Pac-10 honors in 2007, and was named the teams most improved offensive lineman that year.

Ruegamer has missed most of the preseason with a bad elbow. He finally practiced today but must not have looked very good.

So PFT is reporting that Walter Jones may have a season ending injury and he may retire. What the heck? Where did that come from? Mora said he may be back at the beginning of the season and they will reassess him after 10 days. Here is the link below:

That article is talking about if Big Walt's knee surgery had come out looking worse than it did. He had that second surgery and it turned out that they just needed to clear out some stuff. So he'll be back unless something else changes that nobody has talked about yet.

I think the holdup for Edge and Duckett is that a trade is brewin'. We need O-line help and SOMEONE must need a receiver or kicker and Duckett.
Both links

The great nfl.com link provided by recordblender is pretty definitive and from a highly reliable source. Charles Davis, who is an astute commentator of many things, including NFL, was highly optimistic, as was Dr. Evil Martz.

the PFT link was purely speculation. I think time must pass before anyone knows if Big Walt will return this year, and if so, when. I'd be surprised if we know anything definitive about Jones until after week four of the preseason. Hopefully by then the team will feel good about leaving him on the active roster.

I'm more curious about Trufant actually. Losing Jones sucks, but we all knew it could happen. Trufant was expected to be healthy this year. His injury was not prepared for.

Why does anybody bother even reading PFT? They're the football equivalent of the national enquirer...
