The Seahawks wrapped up another practice today, and reports coming back are fairly slow. With Danny O'Neil writing two or three solid pieces a day and Eric Williams not far behind him, these guys are busy busy. Granted, they also have an awesome job, but hey, whose counting? Mike Sando attended his first practice today, too, so he adds to the pool.

  • Sando notes that the rumors are true about Cory Redding -- he's a beast. Redding absolutely tore up the pass-rush drills yet again, winning all three battles against Manny Wrotto. Pretty much everyone has said that Redding plays "violently," and Sando joins the chorus. The more we hear about Redding, the more I feel acquiring him may end up being the biggest offseason move we made this year. If Redding solidifies the defensive line as he is expected to, these Seahawks could be one of the most dangerous defenses in the league. That remains a big if, but Redding's knee appears to be holding up well (knock on wood).
  • Lawrence Jackson and Darryl Tapp have also been performing well in camp, which Sando also noted. Tapp appears hell bent on proving his worth this year, and being slotted in as Patrick Kerney's backup, I think we'll see Tapp get a lot of playing time (Jackson too). Look for both of them to play between 30-40% of all snaps. Jackson will take Redding's spot on third downs, while Tapp will be cycling in fairly often to keep Kerney fresh.
  • Owen Schmitt looked bad in pass protection drills getting beat by both Jamar Adams and CJ Wallace. Schmitt is already on thin ice, so put another tick in the JG box.
  • Danny O'Neil reports that Billy McMullen was back in practice, but Deion Branch missed the second go in a row. Not exactly a fair trade off, is it?
Danny and Eric/Ryan should have their reports up soon enough, I'll try to catch them when they land.
