Through three days of training camp so far, one thing is clear:

There is reason to believe in the 2009 Seahawks draft class.

Greg Johns of seattlepi.com has written up why Coach Mora, among others, is feeling that way. The observations by the coach include everyone except of course Aaron Curry, who has yet to sign a contract. (Should we be worried by now?)

Despite Curry's absence, training camp reports have been largely positive so far, and Mora goes into detail in Johns' story about why each player is making an impact. The most detailed and sincere words Mora had were for G/C Max Unger, who has stood out in more ways than one so far.

"Max Unger, to me, looks like a guy who has the versatility we thought that he had when we drafted him. He's very smart. He's picked things up very quickly. We've asked him to do a lot of things. It's not easy to play those two positions in there as a rookie, and he's done a nice job with that."

To me, Unger's role is seemingly invaluable right now. The fact that Mike Wahle is done with football and the position of center hanging in the balance means Unger has an excellent chance to step right in and start from day one. I'll be seeing all this for myself on Saturday when I visit training camp, which I personally am beyond psyched for.

It also seems Tim Ruskell is equally high on the group of rookies, as he had this to say:

"There's a chance that every one of our draft picks could make the team," he said. "That doesn't happen all the time. 'They are what we thought they were,' to quote a phrase. So far, so good. We'll see how camp goes. We brought in some good young players with some talent."

I'm also looking forward to seeing more from guys like Cameron Morrah, Courtney Greene and especially Devin Moore, who have been a little overshadowed by other names thus far. Hopefully training camp makes that change for the better.
