After a fairly disappointing morning practice, how would the Seahawks respond? Let's find out, shall we?

  • Danny O'Neil notes that that Deion Branch sat out the second practice to rest his knee. This is probably no big deal, and hopefully he'll be set to go tomorrow at 3:30; if not, it'll be worth keeping tabs on.
  • Ryan Divish (filling in for Eric Williams) says that Kelly Jennings laid a noteworth hit on Courtney Taylor. They jawed a bit, as did Housh and Travis Fisher after a nice hit. Divish thinks the WRs are getting tired of the big hits. I'm just excited to see the team taking practice seriously!
  • Justin Forsett continues to impress with solid runs. He seems to fit the one-cut-and-go system quite well. One thing I noticed last year with him is that he has a nice burst and the lower body strength to keep running through arms. He isn't going to break tackles like Brandon Jacobs, but awkward angles and poor tackling technique does not get rewarded with stats when you're going against J-Forse!
  • Divish also points out, as literally everyone else has, that John Carlson couldn't drop a ball to save his life. Carlson is a talent and a hard-working one at that. We are incredibly lucky to have him on this team, and if he performs as we expect he might, he will soon be mentioned in the Lofa / Leroy / Mebane pool of 'incredible mid-round draft picks.'
  • Deon Butler's speed impressed Divish. Yes, he's fast! We knew that. He also notes though that Butler looked afraid to go over the middle, and on a number of plays he would have been decleated had he been in an actual game. We don't want recklessness, but we also don't want fear. For Butler to contribute to the team this year, he will need to figure out that balancing act.
Also, check out this sequence (PDF) of a nice connection from Hasselbeck to Payne from Tuesday night's practice. Thanks to Albert L for sending it our way. Nice shots!
